I have contemplated many times to create a jewel for this beautiful old Colombian emerald. Just couldn’t get myself to envision a definite design. Hopefully, either I will feel a spark soon…, or someone might propose an idea.
Weighing a bit over 10 carat, This emerald has a story to tell. Its bright albeit strong green color is quite unique to old Colombian emeralds, it’s a combination of pure green (and a lot of it) and great glow phenomena which together make up its special beauty.
Shaped and polished around the early 1900’s, one cant help but sense the ArtDeco geometry, a signature characteristic portraying this very special era. Even though crafted about a century ago, its old craftsmanship is superb and evidence to the importance of the lapidarist craft.
The proportions beautifully reveal the maker’s period by exhibiting a very high crown which offers a unique look and feel defined by distinct step facets contouring the table.., so crucial to the beauty of a gem.
A very fine, evenly spread patina can be noticed which further confirms its old-cut status, this gem was never set in a jewel for the decades we have owned it.
Available loose or as a bespoke experience.
