Fancy Intense Orangey Yellow Pear 0.71 carat

I initially picked and purchased this Diamond for refashioning purposes. No, not for your usual case of color enhancement, my plan was to fashion this Diamond into a early 20th Century vintage cut. It had almost all the right ingredients for such a task.

After closer study and living with this Diamond for a while, I changed my mind deciding to leave it untouched. In the real world, because of the strong intensity of its color it would be a potential candidate for a higher color grade if repolished. In my opinion, if altered for this reason only, it would change its shape and proportions thus loosing its present visual appeal.

Back to the ingredients, it’s color is superb in my opinion, an orangey toned sparkling yellow reminiscing the color of pure raw gold, a nice rich yellow. This Diamond was not cut to usual modified proportions, there is no pavilion bulging below the girdle for color & weight retention.

Actually the pavilion faceting of the rather shallow proportions are both it’s weakness and strength, for one it doesn’t appear “crushed ice” because of its unique faceting, but because of its shallowness it windows characteristically through the center but the crown area bursts a flashing display which certainly wins big over its weakness.

A beautiful shape with a relatively high crown height and a small table give this gem fullness and a three dimensional crown presence. Another good reason to have left it untouched. This Diamond is beautiful and charming from every angle I studied it. Not everyday I am able to find such a finely cut colored Diamond on the market.
