Although this specific Diamond was not cut by GemConcepts, we choose to feature it in our boutique as we believe its a real beautiful and unique Diamond.
Offering a beautiful 1.85 carat Asscher Cut Diamond displaying a rare and unique color. Although color graded by GIA Laboratories as a “Fancy Deep Yellow”, this Asscher Cut has optical plans of his own when it comes to revealing its true body & face-up color to its viewers.
We would comfortable classify its color as an intense or vivid slightly Brownish Yellow depending on the light environment viewed. GIA graders chose to avoid calling the slight brownish tint by adding the “deep” designation to its grade.
We don’t visualize any reason for this diamond to be classified as “deep”. It’s vibrant appearance in most natural lighting is just a delight to the eyes. What we identified as a slight brownish tint was evident only in the darker lighting environment we studied it. In most other lighting environments which we compared this Diamond, we only saw either an Intense Yellow or a classic Vivid Yellow.
Some History, this Diamond was originally cut to a standard Square Modified Brilliant but a good friend of mine took it upon himself to recut it into a rarer more sought-after Asscher Cut faceting design.
As I accompanied my friend on this journey, I was able to witness its transformation and how such a standard cut evolved into this unique Asscher Cut Diamond. Interestingly when looking at its pavilion facets you could still see some miniature reminisce signs of its previous life. This Diamond has a story to tell.
As we usually recommend for step-cut designs, this Diamond reveals its transparent internal material by being almost completely inclusions-free, both GIA and we graded it as a VS1 clarity.
