Our Ethics revision
GemConcepts Ltd. believes ethical practices are at the root of sustainable businesses. We value satisfied employees, efficient & professional suppliers and reliable service providers because we understand that ethical Diamond business creates tangible long-term benefits.
From day one, we installed a robust system to combat conflict Diamonds. Our due diligence practices cover the entire supply chain, from Rough Diamond sourcing through the complete cutting process. This means that our Diamonds are conflict-free, minimal-impact gems, cut and polished to the highest international standards.
We, at GemConcepts, fervently believe in human rights, which is why we emphasise artisan techniques and recognise that our employees are our greatest asset. While our employees receive superior training and perform under excellent working conditions, all of our directors, managers, and workers are required to adhere to our standards of transparency and accountability.
GemConcepts’ ethical business practices
can be verified through three channels:
As an independent Diamond cutting company, we believe these affiliations are the stamp of approval on the ethical practices which have been knitted into the fabric of our business from day one.
Diamonds are a complex business and our principled approach is not merely about prestige, it is in the best interest of all our partners. GemConcepts Ltd. is an ethical company by its very nature, where our customers expect more than just a beautiful Diamond.
The Responsible Jewelry Council
GemConcepts is certified member – No 0664 – of the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), an independently audited, non-profit, standards-setting, certification organisation which promotes accountability of Jewelry producers globally.
The RJC requires businesses to commit and be independently audited against the RJC Code of Practices so to achieve certification of their internal business practices. GemConcepts is fully certified in both Diamond cutting facilities and office headquarters, meaning we are not only audited on how we source our Diamonds but also on how we craft them.
The RJC provides evidence of our responsible business practices in the protection of human and labor rights, as well as in the maintenance of environmental integrity. We are proud to be recognised as an officially certified member of the RJC.
How does the Kimberley Process work?
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) imposes extensive requirements on its members to enable them to certify shipments of rough Diamonds as ‘conflict-free’ and prevent conflict Diamonds from entering the legitimate trade. Under the terms of the KPCS, participating states must meet ‘minimum requirements’ and must put in place national legislation and institutions; export, import and internal controls; and also commit to transparency and the exchange of statistical data. Participants can only legally trade with other participants who have also met the minimum requirements of the scheme, and international shipments of rough Diamonds must be accompanied by a valid KP certificate guaranteeing that they are conflict-free.
